Alex, do you agree with Domhoff’s contentions?

For the most part, yes. I like his methodical structure and analysis. However, I do think he underestimates the potential for large-scale malevolence within the power elite's circle of trust. What is your view?

Without having read the book yet, I believe that there is some real evil in the world and I think there are a multitude of examples of conspiracies by the elite. I’ll be interested to read it, so thanks for recommending and sharing your insights!

Hello Alex, I’m not sure if you will see this, but thank you for your brilliant analysis and firm grasp of historical continuity. One the side of ‘malevolent elites’, have you come across the Political Ponerology that posits that sociopaths are drawn to positions of power and that as the make up a larger and larger portion of the political elite over time, the malevolent processes of the State become increasingly harmful to normal humans?

Thanks for the kind words! I have not heard that term before, but I am quite familiar with the correlation between sociopathic personality traits and leadership. I actually wrote about it here:

Take a look and let me know what you think 😊

keep in mind... people selected by way of "elite institutions" and credentialing become a sort of synthetic tribe. this is the very essence of this globalization push... this tightly-knit collaborative of self-identified experts and elites who falsify their status but get to wield the levers of power.

the conclusions from conventional political theory are, replace the evil corrupt elites... perhaps the real lesson is... maybe let's not have levers of power, and if we must, make sure they're small, marginally consequential but above all, subject to review.

100% true! If history proves anything, it proves that no group, individual, or entity can be trusted with power.

Jews.

Nice try. There are some Jews in the power elite, but the vast majority of the power elite structure was built and maintained by Christian industrialists and plantation owners whose social cohesion was based in large part on excluding "undesirables" like Jews, Italians, Irish, etc. It wasn't until the mid-20th century that Jews and other ethnic/religious minorities started to be assimilated into the social upper class.
